We are proud to announce that OSPO Alliance formally supports the United Nations Open Source Principles — a landmark framework adopted by the UN Chief Executive Board to guide open source adoption globally.
These 8 principles are a strong signal to rally organizations around transparent and collaborative digital solutions and they resonate deeply with everything we stand for in the OSPO Alliance. Picking a few alignment themes:
Open by default, Contribute back, Secure by design — making open source the standard, not the exception. This is the very foundation OSPOs are built on and that we help structure and drive with the GGI handbook, our latest release strongly enhancing security focus.
Foster inclusive participation — enabling diverse contributions across communities, geographies, and sectors. Our Good Governance Initiative (GGI) has championed this from day one with a strong focus and enablement of collaborative translations to favor accessibility of the handbook in native languages.
Sustain & scale — building open solutions that last and grow. OSPOs are the organizational structure that makes this possible, inside public, private orgnizations. Our GGI handbook is built to enable and support OSPOS, our community channels (OnRamp, Forum, Quarterly updates, ..) fostering a strong collaborative shared experience.
Sixty+ organizations worldwide have already endorsed these principles. Joining them is both a natural step and a responsibility for us.
