Software-Lieferketten werden immer komplexer, wobei die Abhängigkeiten sich über mehrere Paketmanager, Programmiersprachen und Verteilungsmechanismen erstrecken. Eine uneinheitliche Paketidentifizierung behindert die genaue und zeitnahe Nachverfolgung von Sicherheitslücken, die Einhaltung von Lizenzbestimmungen und die Sicherheitsanalyse.
Open-Source-Program Offices stehen vor besonderen Herausforderungen bei der Steuerung der unternehmensweiten Einführung von Open-Source-Software unter Wahrung von Konformität, Sicherheit und Verwaltung. Package-URL (PURL) bietet eine Lösung für diese Herausforderungen. Da Open Source immer wichtiger wird, erkennen immer mehr Organisationen seinen Wert. Organisationen wie Alliander, ein niederländischer Netzbetreiber, bei denen es sich nicht in erster Linie um Softwareunternehmen handelt, stehen bei der Einführung jedoch vor besonderen Herausforderungen.
Eine der ersten Richtlinien, die wir als OSPO erstellt haben, war die Lizenzrichtlinie für die Nutzung von Open Source. Es wurde schnell zur meistgelesenen Seite unseres OSPO-Leitfadens. Als unser Verständnis von Open Source im Unternehmen zunahm, stießen wir auf mehr Lizenzen und Randfälle, die angegangen werden mussten. Infolgedessen wurde unsere Richtlinie so stark ausgeweitet, dass sie für unsere Kollegen unhandlich wurde. Wir haben uns die Zeit genommen, unsere Lizenzrichtlinie umzustrukturieren, um mehr Situationen zu berücksichtigen und sie gleichzeitig für Neueinsteiger in die Open-Source-Lizenzierung verständlicher zu machen.
In dieser Präsentation werde ich darstellen, wie die Alliander OSPO eine Lizenzpolitik entwickelte, deren Komplexität im Laufe der Zeit zunahm. Ich werde die Probleme behandeln, die wir angehen mussten, den Prozess der Aktualisierung unserer Richtlinie und die Details der aktualisierten Richtlinie selbst. Im Jahr 2019 veröffentlichten Matthew Skelton und Manuel Pais „Team Topologies“, das in der Software- und DevOps-Community zu einem weithin einflussreichen Buch wurde und für seinen praktischen Rahmen zur Organisation von Teams für schnellen Ablauf und Effektivität gelobt wurde. Das Buch definiert vier grundlegende Teamtypen (einschließlich Enabling- und Plattformteams). Die Beliebtheit von Teamtopologiesn führte zu Investitionen in Enabling- und Plattformteams, da Unternehmen versuchten, die kognitive Belastung zu reduzieren und Stream-orientierte Teams durch bessere interne Tools und Kooperationsstrukturen zu unterstützen. Open Source Program Offices (OSPOs) und InnerSource Program Offices (ISPOs) sind Organisationseinheiten, die offene Kooperationspraktiken ermöglichen. In diesem Vortrag wird Clare das Team-Topologie-Rahmenwerk als eine Linse verwenden, um zu verstehen, wie diese Program Offices in die Struktur einer Organisation passen. The Software Transparency Foundation offers a free of charge service called osskb.org to upstream developers, open source projects and non-profits, researchers and professionals. By using a variety of open source Software Composition Analysis (SCA) tools that integrates osskb.org as backend, they can detect all the open source software within their software compositions. In addition, they can find out information about the license of those software components, detect potentially problematic snippets in their code…
osskb.org provides access through an openAPI to OSS KB (knowledge base), created and maintained by SCANOSS, a key shareholder of the STFoundation.
The presentation will introduce Software Transparency Foundation, and will describe the osskb.org service, the knowledge base behind it, OSS KB, as well as the openAPI. It will also demonstrate how different tools integrate into this service and participants will see some of them in action.
Finally, the open source code involved in the service, published in GitHub, will be shown and described, so participants can check it, download it, create their own knowledge base or even contribute to it.

Alliance and partnerships are key, Thales became the first French industrial company to join RISC-V as platinium member in 2018 and we also are OpenHW Group founder to ensure a strong European presence in Open Source ecosystem thanks to our expertise on Open Hardware technologies.
We definitely need to accelerate our recognition and impact in OSS, therefore we put in place a federated process for all business lines across Thales to allow our collaborators to share assets on our GitHub organization and to contribute to existing Open Source projects. It is an on-going transformation, from an emerging culture to the new industrial standard, from observer to actor which is now impacting our business.

Hermine project: Open source code and data for legal compliance — September 16th 2022

Hermine is an Open Source community-driven project to manage SBOMs and the obligations that come from the licences they involve. It has been initiated by Inno³ and 5 partner companies: Enedis, Lectra, Orange, OVHCloud, RTE.

Setting up an OSPO at a power utility — June 17th 2022

In 2018, RTE (the power transmission system operator in France) decided to embrace open source to increase the efficiency and innovation of core-business software projects. Learning from other industries, it became soon obvious that this strategy would require a more structured approach for open source activities, i.e. an OSPO. The presentation will outline the organization and missions of RTE’s OSPO, its role in community building and in the transformation of internal software activities (development practices, culture, procurement).
